In January, Commeunity had a chance to visit Surabaya for a ride and to also launch the Vitesse Collection. As we reached, we met up with Lukman and his crew to prepare for our ride at Terminal Bike, an official distributor of Comme Studios with many available items. With only 10 riders from Jakarta, we got together with many cycling groups from Surabaya, BBCC, RTC, NUTZ CC, and many more for a total of over 100 riders.

The 1st ride was definitely memorable since many people were experiencing the route for the first time ever. The different road conditions as well the views made the ride even more unforgettable. After the first ride, we all assembled in THIRTY3 BREW coffee to grab a bite and mingle with all the other riders. All of them gave their recommendations on things to do while in Surabaya which we greatly appreciated.

The second day, however, the most difficult ride during this Commeunity trip! One to remember for sure. This time there were even more riders,
up to 100 people from different cycling groups joined in for this ride. With 6 traffic marshalls and 2 police escorts, we left for our ride to Taman Dayu. This trip was divided into 2 routes, flat for 40km and uphill for 10km. The trip really was an adrenaline pumping one as in many of the routes we had to pass through various small villages with very different road conditions. With a lot of ascents, descents as well as holes along the way, the hard wind was not helping us at all. But we managed to reach the destination without it being too late.

After a very tiring 2 days, our last ride was a little more relaxed. Along with 40 other riders, we cycled around the city to explore some heritage sites. We were shown the Chinatown, the famous “Surabaya bridge”, and the grand island loop. We ended the ride with coffee at Ada Apa Dengan Kopi and from there, we then loaded our bikes to the bus and made our way back to Jakarta.
