Global Commeunity Tour Thailand
November 2023

We’re still on a high after coming back from our Global Commeunity Tour in Thailand! Let us tell you how our 5 days there went down. On the first day we arrived at the Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok to meet with the team in Thailand and other members of the tour to go straight to Ratchaburi where we had to just wind down and prepare ourselves for the next day.

The following day kicked off with a 109 km cycling adventure through Ratchaburi by a pack of Ratchaburi riders riding through the roads of the area, starting at 5:30 am. SweetVarnVarn, our beloved cyclist angel, also joined us for the whole of this day. Negotiating challenging terrains with climbs reaching up to 18%, the peloton persevered, fueled by the breathtaking views. Our 1st pitstop came not long after which is a quaint coffee shop called Private Moon located inside a pine forest, and beside a small river. We all gathered there and enjoyed some warm snacks as well as some coffee. The other 60 km was filled with some greenery until we headed back to the city of Ratchaburi.

We had a lot of support from the TAT of Ratchaburi by marking the streets, keeping officers for our guide and making an exclusive bike lane. 80 km in, we stopped another time for a quick refill. Thanks to Benji for arranging us a sponsored drink from Singha including the water, lemon soda, as well as much needed beers! Since the sun couldn’t stop shining, we took a long straight road for a test of our speed against the wind before finishing by a river. All of us took the time to soak in and rest after what was a very long ride. We went to the van after and then headed to the restaurant for a proper wind down with everyone.

The third day unfolded with a 79 km cycling journey in Ratchaburi, accompanied by local riders and the celebrity cyclist Aehglory. The route showcased picturesque scenes of palm-lined streets and glimpses into rural life. Stops at Somdul Agroforestry Home and the Pink Cathedral added cultural richness to the adventure. After a hearty local beef noodle meal, the group returned to Bangkok, capping the day with exploration and relaxation.

Day four marked the realization of a bucket list item – cycling in the renowned Happy & Healthy Bike Lane (Sky Lane Bangkok). Departing at 5:30 am, the group enjoyed a thrilling ride with Commestudios Bangkok at the Skylane entrance. The peloton circled the track, engaging in diverse activities, from leisurely rides to intense efforts for achievements like the King of the Mountain. A visit to a hidden gem coffee shop named ร้านกาแฟใสใส inside the architecture university and an evening Community night event at the hotel. The atmosphere was lively, and even SweetVarnVarn joined the night. The evening unfolded with conversations, laughter, dancing, and singing, creating moments that would undoubtedly be remembered as a highlight of the journey.

The tour's final day featured a leisurely city ride and a visit to Bottomless, a cozy coffee shop, before bidding farewell to Thailand. The entire journey was a blend of cycling challenges, cultural exploration, and community bonding, leaving us with cherished memories to carry back home.
